BUFFET — a professional canteen self-service display case designed for the exhibition and serving of hot and cold dishes in self-service canteens, cafeterias, hotel breakfasts, company canteens, educational institution cafeterias and other catering businesses with high customer traffic. The BUFFET display case is designed for the self-service concept — customers independently choose and take food from a visually appealing display, which reduces the need for service staff and speeds up the food serving process. The BUFFET series offers both hot food display cases with heating elements or a bain-marie steam system, and cold display cases for salads, desserts and drinks, as well as combined neutral modular blocks for assembling a canteen conveyor. BHS offers BUFFET display cases together with other Canteen Self-Service Display Cases for canteens across Europe.
BHS specialists help assemble a complete BUFFET display case line for any canteen. Also see OMNIA display cases and ATHENA display cases.
The BUFFET canteen self-service display case is a practical and effective solution for canteens with high customer turnover. The modular design allows creating a flexible and expandable canteen conveyor line, adapting it to the specific canteen layout and capacity. The BUFFET display case solution reduces waiting time and increases canteen throughput, as each customer independently and quickly selects their desired dishes.
The BUFFET series includes several types of self-service display case modules for different canteen needs. Hot food display cases — heated BUFFET display cases for maintaining hot dishes at serving temperature; GN dish insertion with heating elements or a bain-marie steam system. Cold salad display cases — refrigerated BUFFET display cases for cold salads, fruits and desserts; glass or open display. Neutral modules — for bread, side dishes and toppings serving area; without heating or refrigeration. Cashier modules — module designed for the cashier area at the end of the line. Assistance modules — dish, tableware and napkin area; an addition to the main food line. Also see HEKO display cases.
The technical parameters of BUFFET display cases meet the requirements of professional canteens and food safety standards. Heating system — bain-marie steam system or dry heating with electric elements; GN trays in 1/1, 1/2, 1/3 formats. Cold section temperature — +2°C to +8°C in the refrigerated display case module; complies with European food storage regulations. Materials — AISI 304 stainless steel on main surfaces; glass display panels; sanitarily cleanable surfaces. Lighting — LED lighting for food display; enhances the visual appeal of products. Modular connection — modules connectable in a single line; hidden cables and pipes between modules. Also see HAPPY display cases.
Proper planning of the BUFFET display case line directly affects canteen capacity and customer flow speed. Line direction — typical self-service conveyor: start — plates, then hot dishes, then salads, then desserts, end — cashier station and tableware. Width planning — each BUFFET module is 600–1200 mm wide; a full canteen line is often 4–8 m long. Customer access — sufficiently wide area near the display case (min. 90 cm) for customers to move along the line without obstruction. Ventilation — steam extraction or good room ventilation required for hot modules. Also see KIDS display cases.
Company canteen — BUFFET display case line for organised self-service dining during working hours; high customer traffic simultaneously; the BUFFET modular design allows efficiently serving hundreds of people without long queues. Hotel breakfasts — BUFFET display cases for cold and hot breakfast dishes; elegant and appealing display. Educational institution cafeteria — BUFFET display case with a divided zone for different types of dishes; quick customer service.
